This harbor front neighborhood of almost two dozen art galleries has been attracting artists for more than 150 years.

Start any visit at The Cultural Center at Rocky Neck, where you’ll find maps and gallery information, exhibitions schedules and much more. Built as a neighborhood meetinghouse, the restored 1877 building still welcomes a community of artists and art-lovers to its curated exhibitions and cultural events.

The Rocky Neck Art Colony manages two other galleries: the intimately scaled Cove Gallery, with changing exhibits by local artists all summer, and the new Salted Cod Arthouse and Winebar, a unique partnership that’s part gallery and part restaurant. Leave plenty of time to explore the charming small buildings where artists work and sell their jewelry, fine-art paintings and crafts. Be sure to make your way to Madfish Wharf where there might be live music being performed among the galleries that line the wharf.

Add in a few seaside restaurants, and you’ll find that Rocky Neck embraces the old while celebrating the new.
